I've made the trek back to Tennessee from Los Angeles, CA and it feels good to be home. My sister Bekah flew out from MN just to help me drive home! I do have pictures from the trip that I'll post another day...after I find the cord that let's me do that. I'll tell the stories then, but for now I'll tell a little about my morning with the "Earth Divas". They are a group of women comprised of my mother, Mrs. Valerie, Mrs. Melissa, and Mrs. Gloria. They get together, drink tea, and play mah johng for a few hours about once a week. Let me tell you that this is no sewing circle. They do not shy away from the difficult subjects, and they laugh more than a bunch of teenage girls at a slumber party. I was priviledged to be included in this last gathering (I'm not so much an earth diva as I am a welcome infiltrator at this point). Anyway, here's some photos...

...Every once in a while I like to people watch and I must say these people are some of my favorites.
Mama stopped as we crossed the tracks to go home and decided we needed some shots of the butts someone emptied from their ash trays (probably while waiting for the train to pass).
Near my casa.

Beach + Bonfire = Awesome

Tonight was Meghan Hong's going away party at the beach. She's going to be a nanny in Paris for a year. So, a bunch of people went out to Dockweiler beach to have a bonfire and chill out ( 99% theatre techies). We had just enjoyed a beautiful sunset full of ambers and pinks (or R01-R34) when we noticed a group of rather tough looking guys congregating close to our fire pit...we watch and they slowly move in closer and closer, until Josh has decided to strike up a conversation with one of them. As it turns out they are a west LA gang...ok. He also finds out that the guy runs a car shop and has done specialty work for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. After talking with Josh for a bit the guy tells him that they had intended to take over the party, but that they would just og get something to eat since Josh is such a cool guy...whoa. So Josh pretty much saved the day. Of course I've always said it's a bad idea to pick a fight with techies (especially since earlier this group had opened a bottle of wine with a screw gun since they didn't have a bottle opener).
As it closes in to 10pm we decide to call it a night since the beaches here close at that time. However Josh and I are hungry so we find this little place called Hamburger Habit :) so yummy.
They hand out playing cards for your number. Plus they say it's so clean you can eat off the floor...ummm no thanks.
FOOD!
Josh was pondering something, I'm not sure what though.

Since I didn't know what he was thinking about I decided to ponder something of my own. I can't tell you what it is because it's top secret business.

I have commitment issues right now, at least when it comes to houses...

Ok so here's the new casa out in Mar Vista (I'm only here for about 4 days btw). It's a great place with lots of plants and cool architecture.

Even closer
Here's the path to the house. Lots of pretty plants that we don't get in TN.
And here's the periwinkle wall (for mama).
Cool bottle top from last night's party
Neato toys in Ben's collection. He also has pillows shaped like cuts of meat (my fave was the pork chop one).

Fried Snickers?!?!?!?!

We have just made it to previews for Rogue Machine Theatre's production of Treefall. It's a post apocalyptic play and is kind of...different. Anyway, here's the set and one of the lighting looks for it.

I went to the O.C. Super Fair with a group of friends and had a blast! Here are some of the little piggies :)
Weird Al made of sand! a question mark and an exclamation point rise up out of his head. We also went to a 3-D film about the human brain...yeah four adults were super excited to go watch this movie lol.
Josh and Kiera :)
One of the rides.
Ok so, Josh and Kiera got these Australian potatoes that are cut up and fried, drenched in fake cheese and you dip them in a pepper sauce...we're still not sure what part of that makes it Australian, but it had a flag in it! Josh left to go to the washroom and Steeve bet Kiera $5. Being the kind of woman she is she downed about five of those things before he got back...whoa! Josh was sad, but then he had $5 so it was ok haha.

This is Steeve and his demolished turkey leg.Chad (the monitor guy for KC and the Sunshine Band) tries to help Kiera win the bet by having the margarita close by.

We got to see KC and the Sunshine Band play which was pretty much awesome. I thing Boogy Shoes is my new favorite song. I got to meet the lighting designer Lenny and the Prod. Manager and the monitor guy Chad. Anyway, with the ticket stubs we got to ride the ferris wheel for free! As we were sitting in the "gondola" we started to read the "rules" and one of them said not to deface the gondola (Josh thought it said defecate and Kiera told him that probably was not allowed either) I remembered I had a sharpie in m purse, so I decided to break the rules! I wrote Lizzy with a heart next to it and then offered the marker to the others, mistake. Steeve took it and wrote "your mom" next to my heart...thanks Steeve. Here's the photo proof of the vandalism. I am so LA
Breaking down KC's rigHere's some video of the crazy guy (for some reason there's always one when we gather at large celebrations) He changed between 3 different shirts constantly and would sometimes use the black wife beater as a prop or as a hat...gotta love it!
